Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney says he has "no faith" in boss Ruben Amorim

The scathing remark comes after the Red Devils suffered another loss, away at Brentford on Saturday September 27.

Speaking on the latest episode of his podcast, Rooney said that the club's "soul is gone".

United's record goal scorer said he's "broken" over the state of the squad and goes into games "expecting" losses.

Rooney's sentiments reflect that of many fans as of late, but the club's board have repeatedly kept their faith in Amorim.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to be supportive of Amorim and wants to judge him on a full season with a team he wants.

Under Amorim's leadership, United have picked up just 34 points in 33 Premier League games.

Rooney continued his critique by calling out players who "don't deserve to wear the shirt", amidst recent performances.

"I am not seeing anything which is giving me any confidence", the former England International said.

Should the board still have faith in Amorim?

Manchester United has had a rough run since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The club won their last Premier League title in 2012 under his management, and haven't had a great deal of trophies to their name since.

Nor have they really had a consistent boss in place. Louis van Gaal and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had two-three year spells, but nothing more.

Coaches have been churning out of Old Trafford with no real consistency. And it's something fans will desperately want.

After finishing the 2024/25 season 14th in the league and losing out to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League, it's only fair that fans may want change.

But at the same time, the question remains - who would come into replace Amorim?

The task of Manchester United is bigger than most clubs. An internationally known side that's supported by many means the pressure and stakes are much higher.

Despite the performances as of late, it feels like it might be a good thing the club board is backing Amorim - in order to provide consistency.

It may unstable, but at least with consistency there may be some sort of perseverance.
