Brentford vs. Man United live score: Premier League result, stats, highlights from Saturday early kickoff image

Manchester United @ManUtd

Hoping to build on the momentum gained from last weekend's victory over Chelsea, Ruben Amorim and Manchester United look to put their road woes aside as they visit Brentford on Saturday in the early kickoff.

The Red Devils have won just three of their last 24 road visits to London-based clubs, struggling away from Old Trafford, specifically in the capital.

Yet with victories in two of their last three league matches, Amorim appears to have eased the pressure on him slightly with United up to 11th in the Premier League table.

Brentford, meanwhile, have found life difficult to begin the year, after selling so many key players in the summer transfer window. The Bees have just a single win through five league matches, sitting 17th in the league window as they face an early relegation threat.

Brentford vs. Man United highlights from Premier League

71st min: PENALTY, MAN UNITED! Bryan Mbeumo delivers a pinpoint cross from the right flank to the front of goal where Matheus Cunha arrives through the middle, and Nathan Collins drags back the former Wolves striker as he goes to reach it. Craig Pawson points to the spot, and shows Collins a yellow card!

There are questions whether this was deserving of a red for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity, which there seems to be a serious case for, but the VAR has a long look and the check is complete.

Stepping up is Man United's captain Bruno Fernandes, who has to wait over four minutes to take his penalty between a lengthy VAR review and a Brentford substitution. Finally, he has his effort...SAVED!!!!! KELLEHER DIVES TO HIS LEFT AND STOPS THE PENALTY!

That's two in a week that Fernandes has missed!

63rd min: Chance, Man United! A SENSATIONAL SAVE FROM ALTAY BAYINDIR! Diogo Dalot is muscled off a ball down the left and allows a cross to the middle, where Dango Outtara is all alone on the penalty spot, but his shot low towards the far post is parried by a wonderful stop from the Turkish goalkeeper!

28th min: GOAL! MAN UNITED! BENJAMIN SESKO HAS HIS FIRST MAN UNITED GOAL! The Red Devils have clawed one back!

Patrick Dorgu sends a prayer of a cross into the penalty area, looped high up in the air, one which Caoimhin Kelleher should have claimed straight away. Yet he can only get a touch to it, and then is forced to make two exceptional saves on Sesko, but the big United striker lashes home the third attempt!

First a header is stymied, then a volley, but Sesko's steadfast resolve to score wins out in the end as he smashes it in with the left foot from two feet out!

20th min: GOAL! BRENTFORD! IGOR THIAGO STRIKES AGAIN! It comes on another long ball forward, brought down by the big striker at the top-left corner of the penalty area and fed to Kevin Schade. The German has a rip on goal which is saved by Altay Bayindir, but the rebound comes right to Igor who rifles it into the open net!

8th min: GOAL! BRENTFORD! THE BEES LEAD EARLY! They go from back-to-front in a flash as Matheus Cunha is tackled in front of the Brentford penalty area and wants a foul but doesn't get it. Brentford counter on the long ball and Igor Thiago is all alone, sneaking in behind Harry Maguire, and he strikes a blistering left-footed rocket that snipes the top corner! WHAT a goal!

Brentford vs. Man United lineups, team news

Edmond-Paris Maghoma is continuing his recovery from a hamstring issue with the midfielder still working on building match fitness before a possible return later this month.

Aside from those absences, manager Keith Andrews has a near full squad to choose from, although he appears to have switched to a 4-2-3-1 set-up.

Nathan Collins and Sepp van den Berg line up at the heart of defence, screened by Jordan Henderson and Yegor Yarmoliuk, with Mikkel Damsgaard pushing further forward. Thiago is flanked by Kevin Schade and Dango Ouattara.

Brentford starting lineup (4-2-3-1, right to left): Kelleher (GK) — Kayode, Collins, Van den Berg, Hickey — Henderson, Yarmoliuk — Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade — Thiago

Brentford subs: Henry, Pinnock, Jensen, Valdimarsson, Onyeka, Milambo, Ajer, Lewis-Potter, Janelt

United head into the clash against Brentford without the services of Lisandro Martinez, who remains sidelined with a serious knee injury sustained in February, not expected to return until late in 2025 or early 2026.

Diogo Dalot was also a minor concern after a muscular problem ruled him out against Manchester City and Chelsea, but the full-back has been back in training this week and returns to the line-up.

Casemiro is suspended after his red card in last weekend's victory over Chelsea and Ruben Amorim has called Manuel Ugarte to deputise. Amad Diallo will miss the match for bereavement after Amorim confirmed a family member of his passed away.

Matheus Cunha starts alongside ex-Brentford favourite Bryan Mbeumo. Cunha has returned from his hamstring issue and made a substitute appearance against Chelsea without suffering a setback.

In goal, Altay Bayindir retains his place.

Man United starting lineup (3-4-2-1, right to left): Bayindir (GK) — De Ligt, Maguire, Shaw — Dalot, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu — Mbeumo, Cunha — Sesko

Man United subs: Mount, Zirkzee, Yoro, Heaton, Heaven, Lammens, Fredricson, Leon, Mainoo
