Man City host Burnley looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after last weekend's last gasp draw at Arsenal. They did respond with a 2-0 win at Huddersfield to progress in the Carabao Cup, which Burnley exited after a surprise defeat to Cardiff.

Pep Guardiola was on the verge of a precious victory via park the bus methods at the Emirates until Gabriel Martinelli struck late on and finds his side already eight points adrift of leaders Liverpool. There was the midweek win to get them back on track but they need to start picking up speed in the league if a title challenge is the aim.

Burnley went out of the cup at home to League One side Cardiff but Scott Parker is unlikely to care with all focus on their survival bid. The Clarets have looked quite resolute on their return to the top flight but anything here would act as a major and unexpected bonus.

The Sporting News has all the latest ahead of this clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City vs. Burnley: Form Guide & Predictions

City have had a very iffy start in the league especially by their lofty standards with two wins, two draws and a draw from their opening five games.

Burnley have battled well, only losing to Liverpool and Manchester United by stoppage time penalties, and are perhaps unlucky to be on just four points so far. Crucially, though, they are outside the relegation zone.

We don't expect them to be able to cope with City and primarily Erling Haaland here, and this should be pretty straightforward for Pep Guardiola's men.

Man City vs. Burnley Odds

City are heavy favourites to win at 2/11 with AK Bets, while Burnley are way back at 16/1 with the same bookmaker for an unlikely victory. The draw is 15/2 on Paddy Power.

Our 3-0 prediction is at good odds but here are some other potential scorelines.

Man City vs. Burnley Team News

  • Guardiola will hope to have Erling Haaland fully fit after he came off at Arsenal and missed out entirely from the win at Huddersfield.
  • Matheus Nunes is set to start at right-back after Abdukodir Khusanov joined City's injury list.
  • Burnley are likely to be unchanged from the draw with Nottingham Forest with former City captain Kyle Walker returning to the Etihad for the first time since his summer departure.

Man City vs. Burnley Bet Builder Tips

Our bet builder for this one is City to win by 2 or more goals, Erling Haaland to score anytime and City to have both the most shots and corners. That is currently 11/10 with Bet365
