Football is a team sport but for many, the individual honours are as exciting as the big trophies.
While Player of the Season honours invite debate, one award that leaves no room for subjectivity is the Golden Boot.
Whether it is at a major international tournament or in major European club competitions, the race for the Golden Boot is always closely followed, especially in the Premier League.
The Premier League saw a lot of big money summer moves, with Arsenal signing Viktor Gyokeres and Chelsea bringing in both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap to compete at the top end of the pitch.
Liverpool signed Alexander Isak for a British record fee but is now potentially out for the season after scoring just two league goals.
Unsurprisingly though, Erling Haaland tops the tree by four. The Man City no.9 broke a three-match goalless run with a penalty against Brigthton but actually saw his lead cut.
His big challenger is Brentford's Igor Thiago, who followed up a hat-trick at Everton with two more against Sunderland to move on to 16 for the season.
Antoine Semenyo comes next with 10 but we are set for a straight shootout between the two strikers in a season that has seen many big-name forwards fail to fire.

Premier League Golden Boot favourites and contenders
Erling Haaland is the huge favourite to win the 2025/26 Golden Boot despite big money moves for the likes of Gyokeres, Pedro, Isak and Benjamin Sesko.
Erling Haaland
Haaland is the runaway favourite to clinch the award this season and is already setting a pace with 20 goals just past the midway point.
Igor Thiago
After joining Brentford for a club-record fee in the summer of 2024, Igor Thiago then suffered from a season-ruining injury last season but the former Club Brugge man has surpassed expectations this time around. His all-round game is getting plaudits and the Brazilian is second in the scoring charts with 16 so far.
Antoine Semenyo
Antoine Semenyo will soon be a teammate of Haaland in the January transfer window, with the Ghana international scoring his 10th of the campaign in what will likely be his final game for Bournemouth against Tottenham.
