India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final on Sunday as they successfully defended their trophy, but the events after the match grabbed more attention than the game itself.
India beat their arch-rivals in a thriller, winning by 5 wickets as Tilak Varma's half-century led the team to glory. Rinku Singh hit the winning runs off Haris Rauf to cap off the Men in Blue's ninth Asia Cup title.
However, in the post-match trophy presentation, the winning team did not take the silverware, essentially boycotting Mohsin Naqvi at the event.

Interestingly, Naqvi, who is the ACC chairman and also holds the position of PCB chief and Pakistan's interior minister, reportedly ended up leaving the presentation with the trophy.
India did not take the stage to receive the winner's medals and celebrated the winning moment without a trophy.
The Indian players were at the dais to celebrate their win as captain Suryakumar Yadav recreated a Rohit Sharma moment from the T20 World Cup win from last year.

After beating South Africa in the T20 World Cup last year, then India T20 captain Rohit Sharma emulated Lionel Messi's celebration from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as he approached his colleagues, while being in a crouched position and holding the trophy.
Once he approached his teammates, Sharma jumped in the air and lifted the trophy over his head. SKY did the exact same celebration, although this time, funnily, he wasn't holding the Asia Cup trophy.
