The Las Vegas Raiders haven't had their top offensive player, tight end Brock Bowers, for the past two games due to a knee injury.
Bowers suffered the knee injury in Week 1 and after playing through it for a few games, the Raiders decided to sit him so he could get back to 100%.
Bowers looked to be on track to sit out yet again after not practicing on Wednesday or Thursday, but there was a positive update to share on the star tight end on Friday.
According to Levi Edwards of Raiders.com, Bowers was on the field and practicing on Friday, which marks the first time he has practiced since Week 5.
This now gives hope that Bowers could return this week. Las Vegas will release its final injury report later in the day, so we'll know more then, including his practice participation level and if he draws a designation.
There wasn't much optimism for Bowers' chances of suiting up to start the week after head coach Pete Carroll revealed the team could sit Bowers out through the Week 8 bye.
“I’m hopeful, but we’re looking after him,” Carroll said. “There’s a big bye coming up and all that kinda stuff. An extra week, a couple of weeks you’d get, before you’d have to come back. I’m optimistic always, but that doesn’t mean we’re getting him back. You look at the long haul of it, it might be best to just guarantee that he’s full speed and back. So we’ll see how we handle that.”
If Bowers does sit in Week 7, fellow tight end Michael Mayer will be in line to start. Mayer posted five catches for 50 yards and a touchdown in Week 6.
