The Detroit Lions are squaring off against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3 and will need a big game from running back David Montgomery to pull out the win.
Montgomery has been a key contributor and perfect complement to fellow running back Jahmyr Gibbs over his three years with the team and posted a 1,000-yard campaign in 2023.
But Montgomery is off to a quiet start in the Week 3 game against the Ravens on Monday night.
Here's what's going on.
Is David Montgomery playing tonight?
UPDATE: Montgomery finally got his first carries of the night on the Lions' third offensive series.
We'd expect a more even mix of the two Lions backs the rest of the night.
END OF UPDATE
UPDATE: Montgomery didn't take the field on the second offensive series of the game for the Lions. Instead, Gibbs got the call once again.
We would expect to see Montgomery on drive No. 3.
END OF UPDATE
Montgomery is active and in the lineup, he just hasn't gotten a touch yet. We did see Montgomery get a snap alongside Gibbs on the first drive of the game, but he was utilized as a blocker.
It's typical for the Lions to have Gibbs and Montgomery rotate throughout games. Gibbs got the first drive, so we should see Montgomery on the second.
