The Dallas Cowboys are in danger of not having wide receiver CeeDee Lamb for at least Week 4, but it could be longer than that.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Lamb does indeed have a high-ankle sprain as expected and is unlikely to suit up against the Green Bay Packers this week. The team will re-evaluate Lamb after 10-14 days, Schefter added.
Based on the severity, a high-ankle sprain can take anywhere from four to six weeks to recover from.
However, ESPN's Todd Archer reports that Lamb could miss three to four weeks, which would suggest the sprain isn't too severe.
CeeDee Lamb injury update
"Pro Bowl wide receiver CeeDee Lamb could miss 3-4 weeks with a high left ankle sprain suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bears, according to a source," he reported.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added that Lamb will miss at least the next two games but will avoid injured reserve with the hope he can return before four weeks.
The Cowboys draw the Packers, New York Jets, Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders over the next four weeks, so Lamb could miss all of those matchups. Returning after three weeks gets him back for the Commanders game.
With Lamb sidelined, George Pickens becomes the Cowboys' No. 1 wide receiver. Guys like KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Tolbert and Ryan Flournoy could all get more opportunities, also.
