A week after a close season-opening win, North Crowley displayed its championship mettle in a win against DeSoto.

Now, the Panthers - the defending UIL 6A Division I state champions - hit the road for the first time this season and there’s no time for them to rest on their laurels. They turn right around and take on a very solid Denton Guyer squad.

North Crowley (2-0) won both of its first two ballgames, both at home. After needing a fourth-quarter rally to edge Lancaster, the Panthers rallied from a double-digit deficit in the first half to defeat DeSoto, 36-27, in a game that included a lengthy weather delay.

But North Crowley weathered the storm, literally, with standouts such as junior tailback Kiante Ingram, who rushed for 176 yards and two TDs.

Now, the Panthers - ranked No. 2 in the latest edition of The Sporting News Texas Top 25 rankings - attempt to go to 3-0, but Guyer has a recent history of taking down a defending state champ. Last season, the Wildcats upended Aledo, which won the UIL 5A DI championship in 2023.

Though Aledo got payback on Guyer, winning 21-14 in this season’s rematch on Aug. 29, the Wildcats (1-1) bounced back last week with a 41-21 win against Arlington Martin. Kaedyn Cobbs, also a standout linebacker, rushed for 109 yards and four TDs in the win.

Here’s everything you need to know about North Crowley at Denton Guyer, including live stream information for the game.
