Our list of active 20-game win streaks includes 22 teams as we head into National Week 5.
That's the same number we had last week as no new teams hit the 20-game mark, but we did make a couple of edits to the list this week. We are only tracking 11-man football teams here, and so we removed the Hayden [Winkelman, AZ] Lobos from the list as they are actually an 8-man football team. And we added the Conway Springs [KS] Cardinals when we were able to confirm that they are also on a 20-plus game win streak.
(Hey, nobody said this was going to be easy, and if you see any teams missing from our list, you can reach me on X.com @RoadTripSports or in the comments when you see this posted on our Facebook page at The All-American.)
St. Henry puts a scare in Marion Local before losing 21-14 Friday night
The St. Henry [OH] Redskins were getting a lot of press heading into Friday night's clash with the Marion Local [Maria Stein, OH] Flyers, including right here on The Sporting News.
And, certainly, they came closer than most teams do to ending the Flyers' 67-game win streak, the longest active streak in the country. For example, in 2024, only the Minster [OH] Wildcats managed to stay within two touchdowns of the Flyers' losing, 21-7, last November 22 in the OHSAA Division II state quarterfinals. They had lost to the Flyers earlier in the regular season by a count of 21-0.
You have to go all the way back September 22, 2023, to find a game closer than St. Henry's 7-point loss Friday night when the Flyers beat a feisty Versailles [OH] Tigers' squad, 14-13.
It only took St. Henry 50 seconds Friday night to assert themselves and signify that this wasn't going to be an ordinary night for the Flyers. An interception return for a touchdown put the Redskins in front, 7-0, and they held that lead going into the second quarter. Marion Local later tied the game minutes before halftime, but another St. Henry touchdown gave the Redskins a 14-7 lead headed to the lockers. A tough goalline stand by the Flyers' defense just before the final gun heading into the half prevented it from being even worse.
The second half, however, was vintage Marion Local. The Flyers' scored twice to take the lead, and a stingy defense kept the Redskins out of the end zone for the rest of the game. It will be a game St. Henry's laments – particularly the inability to score in three straight plays from the Flyers' 1-yard line just before halftime.
And, for Marion Local, it's a bit of a mixed bag; on one hand, it shows that even with a young team, the Flyers' can still win big games – and close games – but, on the other hand, it also underscored the fact that a fifth straight unbeaten season is likely to be even more of a challenge than any of the previous four.

Meanwhile, as noted above, Marion Local's streak remains intact, and the Flyers are now 3-0 early in the 2025 season. They'll host the winless St. John's [Delphos, OH] Bluejays this weekend, an 0-2 team that will try to shoot the Flyers down this coming Friday night.
