A pair of ranked teams vying to play for a Texas UIL 6A Division I championship square off Friday night.

Austin Westlake takes on Humble Atascocita in a matchup of two teams ranked in the current edition of The Sporting News Texas Top 25, as the Chaparrals come in at No. 12 and Atascocita enters the poll at No. 24. Friday’s game will be televised on the NFHS Network.

Westlake (1-1) stumbled out of the gate in Week 1 with a 29-22 loss to Prosper. But the Chaparrals got right again last week with a dominating 66-0 win against San Benito, as senior quarterback Rees Wise threw for 191 yards and a TD along with a rushing TD, part of a 291-yard performance by the Chaps’ ground game.

Atascocita (2-0) started its season with a 48-28 win against Houston Lamar and then followed that up with a 52-33 triumph against Katy. Against Lamar, senior quarterback Cardae Mack accounted for 471 total yards and six total TDs, and also had six TDs in the win against Katy.

POSTGAME

- Atascocita had a last-ditch drive going in the final seconds, but Westlake's Austin Knaupe gets a strip sack and fumble recovery to clinch the win as the Chaps move to 2-1 while handing the Eagles their first loss after a 2-0 start. 

FOURTH QUARTER

- We're at the two-minute warning and Westlake has the ball and the lead. Atascocita has two time outs left. 

- TOUCHDOWN WESTLAKE. Chaps take the lead with more than five minutes left as Rees Wise takes it in on an 8-yard keeper. (Westlake, 35-28 | 5:25, 4th) 

- Atascocita was driving in the red zone, but Westlake's defense forces a turnover. Chaps take over at their own 10 with 9:15 left. 

THIRD QUARTER

- TOUCHDOWN WESTLAKE. Chaps respond late in the third as Braden Riddell runs one in from 14 yards out. (28-28 | 2:55, 3rd) 

- TOUCHDOWN ATASCOCITA. Eagles break the deadlock with another long TD run from CJ Toney, this one covering 60 yards. (Atascocita, 28-21 | 9:10, 3rd)

- A very entertaining first half ends, and we are tied up with both Westlake and Atascocita scoring three TDs apiece.

SECOND QUARTER

- TOUCHDOWN ATASCOCITA. Eagles tie it up once again with 16 seconds left in the first half as Rocket Rasheed runs in a keeper from 23 yards out. (21-21 | :16, 2nd) 

- TOUCHDOWN WESTLAKE. Chaps take the lead right back, finishing off a drive with a short run from Jarren Lopez. (Westlake, 21-14 | 3:42, 2nd) 

- TOUCDOWN ATASCOCITA. Eagles respond moments later as QB Isaiah "Rocket" Rasheed hooks up with WR Brian Manuel Jr. from 32 yards out to tie things up. (14-14 | 7:15, 2nd) 

- TOUCHDOWN WESTLAKE. Rees Wise gets his second TD pass of the night, a 36-yarder to WR Rhett Jenkins, a score that was set up by the Chaps recovering a muffed punt. (Westlake, 14-7 | 9:34, 2nd)
