The New England Patriots are gearing up to begin their season, and the Mike Vrabel era of Patriots football this Sunday when they face off against the Las Vegas Raiders. And while there is a lot of optimism surrounding New England in 2025, they will unfortunately be without one of their top defenders on Sunday.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Christian Gonzalez will be out for the season-opening game against Las Vegas.
"Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez is out Sunday vs. the Raiders due to a hamstring injury and LT Will Campbell is questionable due to an ankle injury," Schefter reports.
Gonzalez is not only one of the top defenders on the Patriots' roster, but one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. He played in 16 of 17 games in 2024 after appearing in only four games in 2023 due to a season-ending injury. Luckily for New England, they also have Carlton Davis, who will be able to step up in that CB1 role in Gonzalez' absence.
