The NFL season has just begun, and already there is a major conflict.
Before the first snap from scrimmage, Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was ejected for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. And while the immediate focus is the game, and the ramifications that come from missing Carter against Dallas, there could be a larger fallout that keeps Carter out for more games.
There is now speculation on if the NFL will suspend Carter for his frankly disgusting act. One person in particular who wants to see Carter suspended is Stephen A. Smith, who called for the league to suspend the Eagles' star via X.
"WTH did I just see?" Smith wrote. "Jalen Carter — the Best Players on the Eagles defense just got thrown out the game before a freakin snap for SPITTING….SPITTING on Dak. To hell with just an ejection. Suspend that man. How in the HELL could you do something like that? Inexcusable! Stupid! Selfish!"
Don't be shocked to see a punishment handed down from the league to Carter sooner than later. A fine is all but guaranteed, and we'll see if a suspension follows.
