Chiefs coach makes troubling admission ahead of crucial Week 3 clash image

The Kansas City Chiefs, through two weeks of the NFL season, have been up and down with the offense in particular coming under fire for being so-so.

Against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Philadelphia Eagles, the offense has struggled to function in the way we have become accustomed to, and as such, Patrick Mahomes has been the team's leading "rusher," which isn't a good sign.

But with the run game not functioning at all, and the passing game needing work, there is still plenty of upside for the Chiefs. However, when talking about the offense and whether running or passing is what they want to do, coordinator Matt Nagy revealed something rather interesting.

“We’re really trying to evaluate what we are best at,” Nagy said. “I think the biggest thing that we are all probably tackling and we want to get to as soon as we can is what is our identity, and that’s across the league. Everyone starts to create one, and the sooner you find that identity on offense with the players you have, the better you can be."

Chiefs must find identity vs. Giants

It is worth noting that most teams come into the season with a vision of what they want to do, but after a month or so, if it isn't working, as the Chiefs' plans aren't, then it is time to pivot.

So, the Chiefs are trying to work out how to get the best out of the players they have, and yes, with no Rashee Rice and a banged-up Xavier Worthy, it might be a little trickier, but one thing is for sure: they must get more out of the run game.

Just 47 yards from both Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt through two games simply isn't good enough, so maybe that will be the first port of call for Nagy and head coach Andy Reid.

Either way, the Chiefs, who are at 0-2, need to find their offensive identity real quick, otherwise it might be the reason why the 2025 season is over before it begins.
