Packers’ Matthew Golden makes jersey number change after Micah Parsons decision image

Matthew Golden was set to enter his rookie season in the NFL with one of the oddest wide receiver numbers ever.

The Green Bay Packers' first-round rookie WR had chosen this summer to wear No. 22.

That's no longer what Golden will rock, though, when the regular season gets underway for the Packers on Sunday, Sept. 7 against the Detroit Lions.

Golden has opted to change his number to 0, revealed in an announcement by the Packers on Saturday.

It follows the decision from Friday of new Packers superstar Micah Parsons to don the No. 1 in Green Bay.

The Packers also announced new uniform numbers for two running backs. Emanuel Wilson will wear No. 23. Israel Abanikanda will wear No. 28.

Golden is the key change, though.

Packers fans may have already been running out to grab some GOLDEN 22 jerseys. Instead, they'll have to get GOLDEN 0 jerseys.

If anyone already has the No. 22 version, it'll be a retro fit with a fun but short-lived shelf life.

There has never been a Packers player to wear the No. 0 until Golden. It hasn't been an option for very long, but now he gets to claim the title of agent zero.

Parsons is the second player to wear No. 1, after Earl "Curly" Lambeau.

Green Bay's season will certainly depend in a lot of ways on the successes of their stars wearing Nos. 0 and 1.
