The Dallas Cowboys earned seemingly every take, positive and negative, from their trade of Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.
But one NFL insider brought up a point that hasn't really been said, and it's a doozy: What if this was done to help replace Dak Prescott?
This is what The Athletic's Jeff Howe wrote on Friday:
"With four first-rounders in the next two drafts, the Cowboys can get very aggressive to target Dak Prescott’s heir — if they’re so inclined."

Prescott's contract didn't help matters, either. He's the NFL's highest-paid quarterback at $60 million per year. Jerry Jones has lots of money, to be sure, but even the league's sometimes malleable salary cap rules can only handle so much.
But the idea of replacing Dak is fascinating.
Rumor mills would likely latch onto the idea that Jones wants Arch Manning. That's a very real possibility.
But no one knows whether Arch is going to leave Texas after this season or next, which likely has an impact on draft pick plans around the league.
The Cowboys have balanced out that sheet, though, with a couple first-rounders in both years.

If there's a flaw here, it's that the Packers are more likely to pick sometime in the 20s than somewhere in the single digits. The Cowboys likely won't be picking much higher, either, as long as Prescott is healthy with his strong WR corps.
But somehow, a quarterback could be coming soon. Dallas has too many first-round picks to not at least consider using one on Prescott's heir.
Heir is a nice way of saying replacement, of course. It's all the same thing, suggested by Howe, that maybe there's a future where the Cowboys are looking past their franchise QB to the next big thing.
