First Ever: History Made in MLB on Sunday from Seattle image

History was made Sunday in Seattle, as Cal Raleigh hit a two-run bomb in the first inning, and another two-run home run in the second inning.

The two bombs were a Major League Baseball record for 49 home runs, the most by a catcher in Major League Baseball.

The second home run gave the Seattle Mariners a 5-1 lead in the second inning over the Athletics. Seattle came into the game on Sunday with a 69-61 record. The Mariners were 2.5 games behind the Houston Astros in the American League West standings.

The slugging catcher came into the game with a .259 batting average, and his four runs batted in so far in two innings gave him 75 on the season. He leads all of MLB in home runs, with Kyle Schwarber second at 45.
