Dillian Whyte has provided clear clarification over his boxing future after recently being advised to step away from the ring.

The 37-year-old was knocked out in one round by fellow British heavyweight Moses Itauma earlier this month, appearing a shadow of his former self during the bout in Saudi Arabia.

The brutal and devastating nature of the loss was a sign that Whyte was no longer a contending fighter in the heavyweight division and his days of longing for a world title shot were all but over.

Ex-fighters, including Johnny Nelson and Carl Froch, believe it is time for Whyte to hang up his gloves as there is no obvious fight for him to chase now.

Promoter Eddie Hearn is also in the camp that Whyte has nothing else to show in the ring anymore and should call it quits.

However, it appears The Body Snatcher has no plans to call time on his boxing career and wants to continue competing.

Whyte's official response to retirement calls

In an Instagram post on Monday (August 25), Whyte addressed the retirement calls, writing: "This is not where my story ends. I may have lost this fight (to Itauma), but not the fire that built me."

"Thank you to everyone who's been standing by me through the highs and the lows. I'll be back," he added.

It is unclear who Whyte will take on next, as his career is in its latter stages and certain big fights may not be possible anymore.

However, he will be determined to continue showing his worth in the ring and ensure his career can have some positive final moments.
