Rohit Sharma workout routine: India captain's fitness prep to get 'lean and faster' for 2027 ODI World Cup image

India ODI captain Rohit Sharma is in the twilight of his career. The Indian batting legend, who turned 38 this April, has already brought the curtain down on his T20 and Test careers, but he continues to play ODI cricket.

Sharma last played for India at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in February-March, where, under his leadership, India lifted the ICC title after a gap of 12 years.

Having already retired from two out of the three formats, Sharma nowadays has minimal national team commitments. While this allows him to spend some quality time with his family and friends, it also affects the player's fitness, especially towards the end of his career.

In fact, Sharma last experienced cricket action during the Indian Premier League 2025 season, where he represented Mumbai Indians. During the tournament, questions were raised on the veteran batter's fitness, as he often came on as an impact substitute, only to bat as an opener.

However, the 38-year-old worked hard in the last few months as India's Test tour of England was ongoing and the results were visible, as he passed BCCI's latest fitness tests, where players had to undergo Yo-yo and Bronco Tests.

Rohit reportedly passed all the Tests comfortably and looked in very good shape, as he eyes a return to the Indian team in the ODI format later this year.
