Rohit Sharma's longevity in international cricket has often been a topic of discussion. But for pacer Khaleel Ahmed, the Indian captain's presence is nothing short of vital.
In a recent conversation with RevSportz's Editor-in-Chief Boria Majumdar, the Chennai Super Kings bowler opened up about his career revival, his respect for Rohit, the guidance he has received from MS Dhoni and his determination to earn another India call-up.

Khaleel Ahmed praises Rohit Sharma's captaincy
Khaleel recalled a match against Bangladesh in Rajkot back in 2019 when Rohit's encouragement left a deep impact on him. Despite a poor outing, Rohit stayed in the dressing room to offer words of support.

According to Khaleel, Rohit told him he was unaware of his potential and urged him to stay positive. The pacer said those moments revealed Rohit's human side, adding that he has seen him extend the same kind of support to other teammates, including Rishabh Pant.
"I feel Rohit Sharma should play for the next 10 years for the good of Indian cricket and that's my personal feeling," Khaleel said in the interview.
MS Dhoni's role in Khaleel Ahmed's growth at CSK
Speaking about his time at Chennai Super Kings, Khaleel credited MS Dhoni for instilling belief in him. He said that Dhoni encouraged him to work on his in-swinger before the IPL and gave him the freedom to make his own decisions on the field.
The pacer said Dhoni's calm presence and ability to back his players regardless of results have given him the confidence to trust his instincts.

Khaleel Ahmed eyes India return
Looking ahead, Khaleel expressed his desire to wear the India jersey again. He highlighted his performances in domestic cricket and India A tours - stressing that experience across formats has made him a stronger and more versatile bowler.
With consistent IPL outings and success on flat pitches, he believes he has the ability to make an international comeback. For Khaleel, the next phase of his career is about turning potential into opportunities, and he hopes to do that while drawing inspiration from leaders like Rohit and Dhoni.
