How many yards did Saquon Barkley in week one? image

It was kind of a ho-hum effort for Saquon Barkley on Thursday night. After an absolutely dominating season in 2024, Barkley settled for just 60 yards on the ground in the Philadelphia Eagles' 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys. He also added 24 yards on four receptions via the pass game.

Barkley did get into the end zone with a 10-yard scamper just before halftime to give Philadelphia the 21-17 lead. Dallas added a field goal before half to make it 21-20.

The Eagles got the ball back in the middle of the third quarter, and backup Will Shipley was out with a rib injury. At that point, Barkley had 61 rushing yards. That's when the game was called due to a lightning delay. 4:44 left in the third. After a delay of 1:05, play returned at 11:30 pm EST.

It was not a great start for the Eagles, as Barkley was stuffed and they went three and out. Dallas also could not convert, which was an opportunity for Barkley and the Eagles to get the ball back.

Little did anyone know, there would be no more scoring after the delay, as yards were hard to come by for everyone on the field. Jalen Hurts iced the game with a run up the middle for the first down.

Last season against the Cowboys, Barkley rushed for 66 yards on 14 carries in a 34-6 win on the road in November. Then, his final regular-season game of the season saw the former Penn State star rush 31 times for 167 yards, but he did not score a touchdown in the game.

The running back seems to be just fine. Dallas had a good defensive plan for Barkley despite not having Micah Parsons.

Just because he did not have massive runs or a stat sheet that makes your eyes pop out does not mean he is going to be any different than the 2024 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. His next chance comes in Week 2 on the road at the Kansas City Chiefs.
