Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is off to a quiet start to the 2025 campaign.
Not only did Brown not bring in a catch in the first half of the Week 1 game versus the Dallas Cowboys, he wasn't targeted, either.
That's especially bizarre because Brown is the Eagles' top target in the passing game and Philly has scored a touchdown on each drive in the first two quarters.
After experiencing a target-less first half, Brown broke a six-year streak. It was the first time Brown went without a first-half target since Week 16 of the 2019 season, according to ESPN.
"AJ Brown went without a 1st half target for the first time since Week 16 of 2019 (vs NO), per ESPN Research," former ESPN reporter Ed Werder shared.
Brown, who was a rookie at the time, was still with the Tennessee Titans that season and the game was against the New Orleans Saints. Brown ultimately finished with only one catch for 34 yards in the contest.
It has been strange to see Jalen Hurts not throwing passes to the outside, where Brown resides. Hurts has connected with passes over the middle, including a 51-yard bomb to Jahan Dotson.
Then again, the Eagles haven't had to throw the football much, as they've been gashing the Cowboys on the ground to the tune of 19 carries for 123 yards and three touchdowns, two of which have come from Hurts.
Brown isn't the only Eagles wide receiver who is off to a quiet start, as DeVonta Smith had just one catch on one target in the first half.
Hopefully better drives are ahead for the Eagles wideouts.
