The New York Jets are coming off a brutal loss in Week 6 to the Denver Broncos in London, losing 13-11. Justin Fields and the passing offense managed -10 net passing yards, resulting in one of the worst passing performances since the turn of the century.
In the wake of this loss, the trade rumors surrounding Jets players have only grown. While they have some trade chips on both sides of the ball, running back Breece Hall has been one of the most frequently mentioned trade candidates this season.
A day before the Jets kick off their Week 7 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that the Jets are continuing to get trade calls for Hall less than a month before the deadline.
Smoke continues to grow around a Jets' Breece Hall trade
"The Jets are already getting calls on linebacker Jermaine Johnson and running back Breece Hall." Russini reports.
Hall has been speculated to be a trade candidate for the majority of the season, and as the deadline approaches, the rumors swirling around his name continue to grow.
If the Jets do trade Hall, it'd hardly be a surprise with all of the smoke that has come up about a potential trade. This report from Russini is only adding to those rumors, as it's the latest report that the Jets are fielding calls about Hall.
This report isn't just a speculative one either; Russini's report not only indicates that teams in need of a running back are calling the Jets about Hall, but that the Jets are listening.
After the 2025 NFL season, Hall becomes an unrestricted free agent. If the Jets don't envision extending him for 2026 and beyond, trading him now for draft capital makes the most sense.

Aaron Glenn isn't in a rush to make this rebuild work, and recouping trade value for Hall now is the best scenario for the Jets to not only plan for the future but also get a look at Isiah Davis to see if he can be a focal point of their running back room going forward.
The 24-year-old running back would have plenty of interested teams ready to spend decent draft capital on him. While anything higher than a fourth-round pick is out of the question, the Jets could still net a solid return for a rental running back, since Hall is so electric.
He can be a solid runner, as seen by his 410 rushing yards in six games this season, and also showcase strong receiving ability, as seen by his 150 receiving yards on 17 receptions so far.
It'd be a sad end to a fun tenure in New York for Hall, but if the Jets are eyeing a long-term rebuild, trading Hall at this year's deadline makes the most sense. Not a ton of teams need running back help, but if one determines they need a difference maker, Hall is by far the best option available.
