New York Giants offer positive injury updates on Malik Nabers, Andrew Thomas image

The New York Giants have a pair of injury concerns going into their Week 1 game against the Washington Commanders in wide receiver Malik Nabers and left tackle Andrew Thomas.

Thomas is listed on the Giants' injury report this week with a foot issue. After being limited on Wednesday, Thomas took a step back and didn't practice on Thursday.

As for Nabers, he isn't listed on the injury report, but that could change on Friday, head coach Brian Daboll revealed.

Daboll told reporters that the Giants will "back off" on Nabers on Friday after the second-year wideout experienced a little tightness in his back. However, Daboll confirmed that Nabers is going to be "fine for the game."

When it comes to Thomas, Daboll revealed that the left tackle is going to return to practice on Friday and the team will talk things over before making a decision for Sunday. Daboll didn't say whether Thomas would be limited or a full go.

A former top-five pick of the Giants, Thomas has developed into one of the better left tackles in the NFL over his five years in the league, and that showing earned him a massive extension in 2023.

Nabers is entering his second season in the NFL after being the No. 6 overall pick in last year's draft. The LSU product had an impressive rookie campaign that saw him tally 1,204 receiving yards and seven scores despite a lackluster quarterback situation.

The Giatns will unveil their final injury report of the week later on Friday, so we'll know more about the two key offensive players then.
