The Los Angeles Chargers saw the debut of rookie running back Omarion Hampton in a 27-21 Week 1 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hampton not only got the start for Los Angeles, he also saw a massive gap in work between himself and Najee Harris, who figured to be Hampton's biggest competition for carries and passing-game work.
While Hampton didn't put up great numbers with all of his opportunities, there was more than one positive to come out of his debut.
Omarion Hampton stats today
Hampton couldn't get much going all night, but the good news is he dominated snaps and touches over Najee Harris and got some work in the passing game, including one snap that saw him shine in pass protection.
Hampton had 17 touches to Harris' two (one carry) and the rookie played 36 more snaps than the veteran (47-11).
It's possible Harris' lack of work was due to all the time he missed this offseason, but we can't say that for sure. Even still, it was a positive night overall for the rookie running back.
