What a start to the 2025 NFL season for the Kansas City Chiefs. Except, it was not a good thing. The Los Angeles Chargers won the coin toss and elected to play defense first. The Kansas City Chiefs then went three-and-out and lost their top wide receiving option.

Travis Kelce ran into his teammate, which caused Worthy to leave the game with a shoulder injury. To add insult to injury, after the Chiefs punted the ball to the Chargers, Los Angeles came right down the field and took an early 7-0 lead.

Worthy had a strong rookie season with 59 receptions and six touchdowns via the air. He also rushed for three touchdowns. During the postseason, Worthy played three games and had 19 receptions with three more touchdowns.

The weight of the receiving core will now transfer to Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and then of course, Kelce as the starting tight end.

Kansas City will finish the game in Brazil, and then head back home to start its home slate of the 2025 season. The Chiefs host the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles on September 14th.
