No player in NFL history has had a receiving game quite like Jahmyr Gibbs did on Sunday in the Detroit Lions' loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Not just for a running back, either. For any pass catcher, period.
Gibbs' receiving line looked like this: 10 catches for 31 yards.
Yeah, it's a weird one.
And according to ESPN's Field Yates, it had never happened before.
Yates writes that it's the fewest receiving yards ever for a game in which a player had 10 or more catches.

That makes sense. You'd think once or twice, a catch would go for a slightly bigger gain. The 3.1 yards per catch average wouldn't even be good as a rushing average.
The targets aren't necessarily shocking. The Lions talked Gibbs up as a receiver in the offseason, suggesting that he'd get split out more often in addition to his chances to catch the ball out of the backfield.
But the yardage on Sunday was indicative of the kind of game Detroit had.

The Lions really had no business sticking with the Packers, who outplayed the visitors in every phase.
It's a bad start to a new season for Detroit, for sure.
The only positive takeaways are this odd Gibbs record and a one-handed Isaac TeSlaa touchdown catch.
The Lions will be hoping it gets better soon.
