Colts end 4,400-day drought in Week 1 beatdown of Dolphins that's a near-Scorigami image

The Indianapolis Colts played their first game since the death of Jim Irsay on Sunday.

They made it count.

The Miami Dolphins never stood a chance.

The Colts took a 30-0 lead before going on to win 33-8 in a dominant beatdown.

It's the Colts' first opening day win since 2013, which is astounding. That's nearly 4,400 days, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

It's also only the second game to finish 33-8 in NFL history, along with the Patriots' win over the Raiders in 2017.

Everything went right for the Colts.

Daniel Jones looked awesome at quarterback. He was efficient, and he finished two drives with rushing touchdowns.

Rookie tight end Tyler Warren was sharp. He caught three passes on the opening drive, and the Colts even gave him a run.

And the defense tortured Miami QB Tua Tagovailoa to no end.

There's no guarantee of anything in this league. The Colts could go on a losing streak starting in Week 2.

But they couldn't have started better. Irsay surely was watching from beyond with a big smile.
