The New York Giants don't know how to start the season on the right foot.

In fact, their offensive futility in recent Week 1s hasn't been matched since the 1940s.

Here's the stat at hand: The Giants have been held without a touchdown in each of the past three seasons in Week 1.

According to OptaStats, that's the first time such a streak has existed since 1942. The Detroit Lions went without a TD in 1940, 1941 and 1942 to open those seasons.

In reality, it's an insane record.

The Giants have had decent RBs on hand the last couple seasons. They've had Malik Nabers last year and this year.

They gave up on last season's opening quarterback, Daniel Jones, but now they have Russell Wilson, a guy who has done a lot of good things in the NFL even if he's on the back nine of his career now.

But no matter what they've done in Week 1 in 2023, 2024 and 2025, they haven't found the end zone.

They couldn't even luck their way into a defensive or special teams TD.

This won't slow down calls for Jaxson Dart.

The rookie QB, the No. 25 overall pick out of Ole Miss in April, is expected to play at some point this year.

If the Giants go another game without a touchdown, the Dart era might start sooner rather than later.
