The Cincinnati Bengals have made a decision at the quarterback position for the Week 6 contest against the Green Bay Packers.
Head coach Zac Taylor revealed that veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who was acquired in a trade with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, will get the start.
"Bengals HC Zac Taylor said Joe Flacco will start Sunday at Green Bay," ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday.
There was plenty of skepticism about Flacco starting this week considering he has to learn a brand new offense. However, Schefter reported that the plan was for Flacco to start and the Bengals were confident he could pick things up quickly.
When Flacco starts on Sunday, he will be squaring off against the Packers for the second time in Green Bay's last three games. Flacco led the Browns to a 13-10 win over the Packers in Week 3, although he didn't play well.
And that has been the story for the entire 2025 campaign for Flacco, who struggled en route to being benched for rookie signal-caller Dillon Gabriel, which made him expendable.
Flacco now becomes the seventh quarterback in NFL history to start against the same team twice in a season but with two different teams. Only one of those quarterbacks (Jack Kemp) won both contests.
Flacco is also making NFL history as the only quarterback in the Super Bowl to ever start for the Bengals, Browns and Baltimore Ravens during his career.
