The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly set to get a big reinforcement on the defensive side of the ball ahead of the Week 6 game against the New York Giants on Thursday.
According to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, linebacker Nakobe Dean is expected to make his 2025 debut against Big Blue, although his workload will be limited, as expected.
"Eagles standout linebacker Nakobe Dean is expected to make his season debut tomorrow vs. the Giants, sources tell CBS Sports," Zenitz reported.
Of course, Dean has been sidelined over the first five weeks because he was working his way back from a torn patellar tendon suffered in January, which led to his placement on the PUP list.
Dean was eligible to return last week, but that didn't happen.
Through five games, the Eagles rank 22nd against the run and have just seven sacks, an amount that is better than just four other teams in the entire league.
The return of Dean provides a boost to both areas. The former third-round pick tallied an 82.5 pass-rush grade and an 80.4 run defense grade in 2024, per Pro Football Focus.
