The Carolina Panthers have reportedly decided on the status of running back Chuba Hubbard for the Week 5 game against the Miami Dolphins.
According to ESPN's David Newton, Hubbard, who is dealing with a calf injury that kept him out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday, is not expected to play this week.
Not exactly a surprising outcome after Hubbard wasn't able to take part in practice over the first two days of the week.
It's even less surprising after reading this report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, who noted on Thursday that Hubbard's calf injury is worse than it was last week when Hubbard first popped up on the injury report.
"For the second straight day today, Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard did not practice today due to his calf injury," Schefter reported. "It’s similar to the one he played through last week, but worse."
Who is Chuba Hubbard's handcuff?
For our fantasy football folks out there, you will want to target Rico Dowdle if he's available on waivers.
Dowdle was signed in free agency to serve as the RB2 behind Hubbard and he has operated that way through the first four games.
Despite playing behind Hubbard, Dowdle has tallied eight touches per contest and has been on the field for 35% of the snaps. He'll be in for a large workload in the Week 5 game against the Dolphins.
Speaking of the Dolphins, they are ceding the 11th-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season. That, combined with Dowdle's expected workload, makes him a borderline RB2 play in Week 5.
