Lee Corso’s legendary headgear tradition will take its final bow in historic fashion on Saturday, and for the first time, it won’t be limited to ESPN’s College GameDay.

In a rare cross-network collaboration, FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff will televise Corso’s last mascot headgear pick from inside Ohio Stadium ahead of the top-ranked Texas Longhorns facing the third-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.

The unprecedented moment shows much Corso has meant to the sport and its fans. For nearly four decades, the 90-year-old analyst has been the heartbeat of College GameDay, captivating audiences with his unpredictable, often hilarious headgear reveals. What began at Ohio State in 1996 has since become a cherished college football ritual. Corso’s 431st and final pick will take place in the same setting where the tradition started, creating a full-circle farewell.

Ohio State will showcase the pick live on its stadium Jumbotron, while FOX presents it to a national audience without relying on ESPN’s feed, according to On3's Brett McMurphy. That move ensures fans inside the Horseshoe and those at home share the same experience. Adding to the tribute, FOX’s Tom Rinaldi and Chris Fallica, who are both longtime colleagues of Corso from ESPN, are expected to honor him during the broadcast.

Corso’s career has been defined not just by the headgear, but also by his personality. His iconic “Not so fast, my friend” catchphrase, playful arguments with colleagues and his ability to connect with fans sets him apart. From donning a leprechaun outfit to holding a live alligator, Corso brought joy and unpredictability to every Saturday morning.

As Big Noon Kickoff honors him before a blockbuster matchup, fans across the country will witness the end of an era. College football Saturdays will never be the same, but Corso’s legacy as the sport’s most beloved showman will live on forever
