This season, a championship wasn’t in the cards for the Golden State Warriors.

With Stephen Curry only recording 13 minutes in the organization’s second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Dubs were severely overmatched, resulting in a 4-1 loss.

Now that Golden State’s offseason has begun, ClutchPoints’ Jedd Pagaduan predicts the franchise will bolster its roster by reuniting with a four-time NBA champion splash brother.

"Klay Thompson may not be the player he once was, and he's had his fair share of playoff stinkers over the past few years,”  Pagaduan wrote Saturday.

"But if the Warriors were to make another deep playoff run, it's only right that Thompson be a part of it.”

"Thompson should at least be better than the version of (Moses) Moody that showed up in the 2025 NBA playoffs. Moody stunk up the joint and ended up being outside of the rotation until injuries forced the Dubs to bring him back in.”

"And now that the Warriors won't expect Thompson to be the secondary scoring option for the Warriors, there will be less pressure on him to produce, which should in turn yield better results.”

Pagaduan’s trade proposal sends Moody and Gui Santos to the Dallas Mavericks for Thompson.

Thompson was fortunate enough to spend his prime alongside Curry. The dynamic backcourt won their first championship with the Warriors in 2015 and never looked back, securing four titles under Steve Kerr in the Bay.

Sadly, Thompson’s memorable run with the Dubs concluded after an underwhelming 2023-24 season that ended on a sour note.

The Washington State product failed to score a point in the Warriors' 118-94 Western Conference Play-In loss to the Sacramento Kings, eliminating them from playoff contention.

During the 2024 free-agency period, Golden State traded the phenomenal long-range shooting threat to the Mavericks in a massive sign-and-trade deal.

Although Thompson connected on 39.1% of his triples this season, his scoring decreased in Year 1 with the Mavericks. The 35-year-old guard averaged 14.0 points per game in 72 regular-season contests with Dallas.

More concerningly, Thompson isn’t the stout on-ball defender he was earlier in his career with the Warriors, making him somewhat of a risky trade target.

Still, considering Moody played his way out of Kerr’s rotation in the postseason and Golden State could use a proven three-point sniper familiar with the organization’s offensive philosophy, Thompson may soon return to the Bay for his second stint with the Warriors.
