Get your popcorn ready. Non-district games don’t come a lot more delicious than this Week 3 match-up between perennial powers.

Last season’s meeting was an instant classic with the Golden Bears coming away with a 45-44 victory over the Lobos in Longview.

The Golden Bears, ranked No. 5 in The Sporting News Texas top 25, are 1-1 after monster games against Galena Park North Shore and Duncanville, the top-ranked team in The Sporting News national top 25.

South Oak Cliff, which has played in four straight state championship games, beat North Shore (41-32) and lost a tight one to Duncanville (35-28).

The Lobos, ranked No. 13 in The Sporting News Texas top 25, are off to a 2-0 start to the 2025 season after rolling past rivals Lufkin (41-16) and Marshall (20-7). Longview has used a balanced offensive attack and a stifling defense to get off to the hot start.
