Kilgore just got done playing one huge District 9-4A Division I game by getting past Tyler Chapel Hill.
Now, the Bulldogs have to turn right around and attempt to survive yet another showdown if they want to become district champs. Kilgore travels to take on an undefeated Lindale squad Friday night.
Last week, Kilgore posted a 28-7 win at home against Chapel Hill in a game between teams that have played in the state championship game each of the past two seasons. Since falling to Carthage in their season opener, the Bulldogs (6-1, 3-0) have reeled off six straight wins, and in three district victories, have outscored their foes, 90-26.
Kilgore is also ranked No. 17 in the current edition of The Sporting News Texas Top 25 rankings.
But in order to likely secure the district championship, Kilgore has to get past Lindale. The Eagles come in with a 6-0 record and are 2-0 in 9-4A DI play.
Lindale opened its district schedule on Sept. 26 with a 64-28 win against Chapel Hill. Then after a bye week, the Eagles returned to action last week and notched a 43-14 win at Palestine.
With their sixth win last week, Lindale has already matched its win total all of last season, when the Eagles finished 6-6 and reached the area round of the playoffs.
