Here we go again. The two most storied Northern California programs in recent years – and in De La Salle's case, ever – battling it out before league play with playoff seeding on the line.
With Serra falling to statewide No. 8 Folsom last week, this probably isn't the preemptive NorCal regional championship, but it may well prove to be depending how the rest of the season shakes out. Especially with De La Salle and Folsom not meeting this regular season.

After losing 39-10 to De La Salle a year ago to officially relinquish its No. 1 NorCal ranking, Serra (0-1) comes in as a fairly heavy underdog after finishing atop the region from 2021-23. Statewide No. 9 De La Salle (1-0) is especially the favorite against the Padres after beating Lakeland (FL) 10-6 last week, but Serra's offense looked potent in its 56-42 loss to Folsom. Especially if you include the fact that RB Jeovanni Henley added a third touchdown on the night to his two rushing touchdowns by recording a pick-six. In that game, Serra QB Caleb Bandel completed 14 of 26 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns, Izaya Singleton ran for 117 yards and caught for a touchdown, and Charles Walsh had three catches for 100 yards and a TD.
In De La Salle's Lakeland win, RB Deuce Jones-Drew scored the Spartans' only touchdown in the fourth quarter. DB Trisshon Wright not only grabbed an interception but also recorded their other score with a field goal.
