Commanders' sky is falling in latest injury updates for Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin image

The Washington Commanders are such a promising football team.

But right now, they can't stay healthy.

Terry McLaurin is sitting out practice Friday with a quad injury. He hasn't practiced all week.

And quarterback Jayden Daniels wasn't out on the field with the other QBs to begin practice.

It could be another week of Marcus Mariota as the starting quarterback for Washington.

UPDATE: It's official by Friday afternoon: Daniels and McLaurin have both been ruled out.

At least rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt was back on the practice field to start the day, although his official participation status won't be out until later on Friday.

"RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt is on the practice field," wrote ESPN's John Keim on X. "They’re doing special teams work so right now he’s not doing much. He was a DNP because of a sore knee the first two days."

The Commanders are heading to Atlanta to take on the Falcons in Week 4.

Washington has begun the season with a 2-1 record, so this feels like a key swing game. The Commanders got a win last week with Mariota at the helm, so they'll try to do that again.

But in a receiving corps without McLaurin, it'll put even more pressure on the Washington run game, along with Deebo Samuel as a playmaker.

The Falcons were just shut out by Carolina, so if the Commanders' defense can do its part, maybe the injury absences won't be quite as crucial as they feel.
