Mike Tomlin may or may not have known what he was doing.
Either way, though, the Pittsburgh Steelers coach found a way to hit both Colts QB Anthony Richardson and Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy with quite the strays in his most recent press conference.
Tomlin was discussing that it might actually be good news for the Vikings to have Carson Wentz as their starting quarterback rather than the currently injured McCarthy.
Here's what he said:
"I don't necessarily view it as a negative thing for the Minnesota Vikings, at least in the short-term, that Carson is playing for them. We were in a similar situation a year ago, we were playing in Indianapolis, and I commented to the guys, keep Richardson upright, don't put Flacco in the game. And Flacco ended up in the game."

Tomlin would've rather faced the young QB rather than the veteran.
And for good reason, as Richardson was on his way to completing 47% of his passes last season.
Tomlin didn't need to throw him under the bus just for this example, but it certainly made a point.
And it also compared McCarthy, indirectly, to the young QB that Tomlin would've rather faced than the veteran.
Richardson or Flacco, McCarthy or Wentz, it appears Tomlin is more worried about the veteran in both cases.
The Steelers are about to play the Vikings in Dublin, Ireland. And we'll see if Tomlin is right to be worried about Wentz.
