The Pittsburgh Steelers have seemingly signed up for a one-year Aaron Rodgers experiment.

Does the future Hall of Famer still have what it takes to lead a team to the playoffs? That remains to be seen. His New York Jets went 5-12 in 2024.

Still, it's what the Steelers had available to them, and they'll ride it out for the 2025 season.

After this campaign ends, though, Pittsburgh almost certainly will have to find its next starting quarterback. The Steelers could look to the draft, where there's a loaded 2026 QB class upcoming.

That's what The Sporting News' Anthony Licciardi projects in his new mock draft. He has the Steelers snagging Penn State QB Drew Allar with the No. 16 overall pick.

"The Steelers have spent the offseason positioning themselves to find a quarterback in 2026," Licciardi writes. "They waited to trade George Pickens until after the draft, leaving them with 12 picks at their disposal. If Pittsburgh has to trade up for a passer, it will, especially with a year of the Aaron Rodgers experience coloring its perception. Allar is a bit of a project, headlined by incredible tools. He isn't particularly comfortable within the pocket and has some processing kinks to iron out. Still, Allar avoids turnovers without sacrificing aggression. Another year at Happy Valley should serve him well."

Allar is part of a heavy returning group at Penn State. This is set to be the most-hyped season for the Nittany Lions in a long time. They're a trendy national title pick.

The talented QB originally from Medina, Ohio could certainly play himself higher up the draft board and out of the Steelers' range.

But if they have a chance to get Allar in the 2026 draft, it'll be a tough possibility to pass up.
