Whenever news starts to go viral from outside the classic realm of NFL insiders, it's best to take it with a large grain of salt.

But there's one rumor going around on X on Tuesday evening that is gaining quite the traction.

The post came from an account known as @RickeyScoops, which is verified and has nearly 50,000 follows.

This is what Rickey shared:

"The #Packers have a trade on the table with the #Cowboys for Micah Parsons with a new contract worth $45M per year."

Is it real?

That is much harder to know.

None of the usual suspects of Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport or Jordan Schultz have shared any such reporting. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler has previously reported the Packers could be interested.

Rickey has actually been linking Parsons to the Packers for a while now. He's also been right about a couple recent NFL events, which he shows off in posts recognizing his past reporting successes.

It's very possible an account like this is plugged in to the right person and could know this information.

It's also possible there's no truth to this.

Parsons' situation is certainly still fluid. The Cowboys open the season on Thursday, Sept. 4 against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles, and Parsons still doesn't have the contract extension he's seeking amid a trade request.

The $45 million per year would set a new NFL record, which is what is expected to happen when Parsons signs, with whomever he signs.

If nothing else, this viral news is a reminder that something big is still going to happen with Parsons. The NFL world waits to learn just exactly what.
