The Philadelphia Eagles made a trade this offseason to acquire a former first-round pick.
In the end, though, that former top NFL Draft prospect won't even make Philly's 53-man roster to start the season.
The Eagles waived offensive guard Kenyon Green on Monday, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
The decision comes a day before the NFL's roster cutdown day. By Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, every team in the league has to be down to their initial 53-man roster.
Green came to Philadelphia this offseason in a trade for safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

The 6-foot-4, 323-pound offensive lineman was originally the No. 15 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M.
Green played in 27 games with the Texans and started 23 of them. He missed the entire 2023 season with a shoulder injury, but sandwiched that with two seasons as a most-of-the-time starter for Houston.
The Eagles picked up Green in the Gardner-Johnson deal on March 11.
At that point in time, Philadelphia certainly wouldn't have been thinking Green would miss the roster entirely.

He wasn't helped by another shoulder injury that forced him to miss a bunch of time this summer.
Green got back onto the field for the final preseason game, but he was behind the mark at that point.
There'll surely be a team out there that hustles to either claim Green off waivers or sign him when he becomes a free agent. It's not often that a former first-round pick with a good amount of starting experience hits the open market while still just 24 years old. There's opportunity to be had here for the next team that gives Green a chance. But apparently, the Eagles had already seen enough.
