The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly found their replacement for kicker Spencer Shrader.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo, the Colts are signing veteran kicker Michael Badgley to the active roster.
"The Colts are signing kicker Michael Badgley to the active roster, sources tell me and Mike Garafolo," Pelissero reported. "After Spencer Shrader's season-ending knee injury, Indy moves forward with Badgley, who kicked for Indy in 2021 and is healthy after missing last season because of injury."
As Pelissero notes, the Colts lost their starting kicker for the season after he suffered a torn ACL and MCL in the Week 5 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Badgley brings a wealth of experience with him to Indy and this isn't his first rodeo with the Colts, a team he played for in 2021.
The veteran has spent six seasons in the NFL and has career success rates of 82.4% on field goals and 96% on extra points.
Badgley last played in the NFL in 2023 with the Detroit Lions. Badgley missed the entire 2024 season after suffering a torn hamstring that landed him on IR in July of that year.
Before the injury, he was competing with current Lions kicker Jake Bates for the starting job. Badgley has also appeared in NFL games with the Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans and Chicago Bears during his career.
Badgley will make his 2025 debut on Sunday when Indy hosts the Arizona Cardinals at Lucas Oil Stadium in Week 6.
