The Pittsburgh Steelers' concerns at wide receiver are well-documented, but the situation is looking even worse after a recent injury.

That injury occurred to Pittsburgh's No. 2 wideout, Calvin Austin, who is dealing with a shoulder issue that could sideline him multiple games.

This is yet another reminder that the Steelers are in a precarious spot and simply need to do more at wide receiver ahead of the deadline in order to fortify Aaron Rodgers' group of pass-catchers, which has DK Metcalf and not much else.

One player the Steelers should definitely be targeting is Las Vegas Raiders wideout Jakobi Meyers, who lands with Pittsburgh in a trade prediction from Pro Football & Sports Network's Josh Weil.

Here's a look at the trade Weil proposes:

  • Steelers get: WR Jakobi Meyers
  • Raiders get: 2026 fourth-round pick

Meyers became disgruntled during the offseason because he and the Raiders could not agree to a contract extension as the veteran entered the final year of his current deal. Meyers decided to play, anyway, and has been a good soldier through it all.

But now that the Raiders are confirmed to be terrible and are going nowhere after a 1-4 start, there's a good chance Meyers will be available at the trade deadline.

When you talk about true No. 2 wide receivers, Meyers is one of the better ones out there and has one of the surest pair of hands in the NFL.

He has four seasons of 800 yards or more and is coming off a campaign in which he finished with a career-best 1,027 yards — and that was with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell throwing him the football.

So far this season, Meyers has produced 290 receiving yards though five games despite Geno Smith's abysmal play under center in Las Vegas. That total would actually rank first on the Steelers, although he has played one more game than Metcalf.

If you were to build the kind of No. 2 wide receiver the Steelers need in a lab, he would look a lot like Meyers. For a fourth-round pick, this trade would be a no-brainer for general manager Omar Khan to make.
