After the Tennessee Titans pulled off one of the worst trades in franchise history by sending A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Titans drafted Treylon Burks with the hope he could eventually replace the star wideout.
Unfortunately for the Titans, not only did trading Brown prove to be a terrible idea, Burks, who was drafted with one of the picks acquired in the Brown trade, didn't even come close to working out, as his career has been marred by injuries and ineffective play.
Now, Burks appears to have one foot out the door in Tennessee after recovering from yet another injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Titans have released Burks from injured reserve, which makes him free to sign with any team.
"Former Titans first-round pick Treylon Burks, who has been recovering from a broken collarbone since training camp, has been cleared for all football activities by Dr. Damon Petty, the Titans team physician, sources say," Rapoport reported. "Burks was released from IR and can sign with anyone."
Titans beat writers have since refuted Rapoport's report, saying that Burks has not been released. However, it's likely just a matter of time before that happens.
It would be nothing short of hilarious if the Eagles signed Burks and actually got something out of him, which would only rub salt in the Titans' wound.
That said, the Eagles don't really have a need at wide receiver right now, and they're already having issues keeping the ones they have happy.
But maybe Howie will see the fun in signing Burks and do it anyway.
