Colts might finally have post-Andrew Luck QB answer in NFL Draft prediction image

The Indianapolis Colts pretty much know for sure they'll be looking for a new quarterback after this season.

The summer competition ended with Daniel Jones beating out Anthony Richardson. At this point, neither appears to be the long-term QB in Indy.

Good thing for the Colts, the 2026 NFL Draft class of quarterbacks appears pretty loaded.

The Sporting News' Anthony Licciardi has the Colts slotted with the No. 7 pick in his new mock draft, and at that spot, he has them taking Clemson's Cade Klubnik.

"Indianapolis needs a new quarterback," Licciardi writes. "Whether or not the current regime survives long enough to pick the next one remains to be seen, but the Colts won't be signing up for the Anthony Richardson experience again. Klubnik is far steadier than his potential predecessor. He's an unfinished product, particularly when dealing with pressure in the pocket. Still, Klubnik is a strong processor who is accurate to every level of the field and athletic enough to utilize in the ground game. Indianapolis isn't very far from competing for an AFC South title. Klubnik's competence helps that cause while retaining enough potential to get excited about."

The Colts haven't figured out quarterback since Andrew Luck's shock retirement in August of 2019.

Since Luck, the Colts have started Jacoby Brissett, Brian Hoyer, Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, Sam Ehlinger, Nick Foles, Gardner Minshew, Richardson and Joe Flacco at QB. Richardson is the only one to have made starts in multiple seasons.

Luck is long gone, now the general manager of the Stanford football program.

The Colts need to find their next franchise quarterback. The 2026 NFL Draft will be the place to keep looking.
