The Detroit Lions might have dodged a bullet with cornerback Terrion Arnold.
Arnold suffered a shoulder injury in the Week 5 game against the Cincinnati Bengals and head coach Dan Campbell admitted he would miss a significant amount of time. Campbell wouldn't rule out Arnold missing the rest of the season, either.
However, after getting a second opinion, Arnold's injury may not be as bad as it was initially feared, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who notes that Arnold could be back as soon as this month.
"A second opinion on Lions CB Terrion Arnold’s shoulder today revealed the injury is not as bad as feared and he now is expected to return, as one source described, 'sooner than expected,' quite possibly this month," Schefter reported.
Prior to Schefter's report, Arnold seemed to indicate in a social media post that he got good news after more tests.
"God is good," Arnold posted to X.
Talk about a total 180. Just 24 hours ago we were wondering if Arnold would even be back this season and now he could be back within the next few weeks.
This is particularly big news because the Lions are also dealing with an injury to the other starting cornerback, D.J. Reed, who will miss at least the next three contests after he was placed on injured reserve last week.
The Lions' next two games come against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7. It looks there's a chance we could see Arnold again as soon as the latter game.
If not, the Lions have a bye in Week 8, which will give Arnold an extra week to get right without having to miss another game.
