On paper, it's exciting.

Part of the Dallas Cowboys' trade return for Micah Parsons was a pair of first-round picks. But there's a problem.

The Green Bay Packers rarely pick high up in the first round.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz shared the stat the the Packers have picked in the 20s of the first round in five of the last six drafts.

And, um, what's the likelihood of them getting worse now that they've acquired the best young defensive player in football?

Those picks still have value, including in trades potentially for productive players sooner rather than later, a thing Jones alluded to in his press conference Thursday night.

But they are unlikely to uncover a player like Parsons (who himself surprisingly fell to No. 12 in his own draft out of Penn State).

Jones went so far in his press conference to compare this to the Herschel Walker trade:

"Micah Parsons did an outstanding job for us for four years and a little bit of the way Herschel Walker may have had his greatest contribution to the Cowboys -- what he brought to us when he left could be a tremendous thing for our fans and the success of this team."

That was a bigger haul, though. The Cowboys got five players and six draft picks back, and they used one of the picks on Emmitt Smith.

To be fair to Jones, if the Cowboys land the NFL's all-time leading rusher, again, the trade will look OK.

But it'll be harder to do that near the end of first rounds with those Packers picks.
