Teams with established kickers don't usually work out other kickers during the middle of the week.

So there's definitely something going on with the Buffalo Bills and Tyler Bass.

The Bills worked out three kickers on Thursday, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz: Eddy Pineiro, Zane Gonzalez and Greg Joseph.

Bass missed the Bills' first two preseason games with pelvic-area soreness.

He made it back on the field in the preseason finale in Tampa Bay, but he missed his final kick wide right from just 26 yards out.

At this point, it's not clear whether Bass still has an injury problem or if something else is at play.

The Bills could be working out these kickers just in case of emergency. They probably come out of the workout knowing which guy they'd sign if they need to sign someone. It doesn't mean they need someone right now.

Maybe there's some Bass injury uncertainty. Maybe there's some Bass productivity uncertainty.

Either way, no roster move has been announced yet.

It is interesting that the Bills didn't bring in Caden Davis, who kicked for Buffalo in the preseason with Bass out. But either they didn't like him enough or they already feel comfortable knowing what they would potentially have in him.

The Bills open their season on Sunday night, Sept. 7 against the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore will be breaking in a new rookie kicker, Tyler Loop. It remains to be seen who will be kicking for Buffalo.
