Everyone knew the Arizona Cardinals' RB depth chart would look different on Thursday Night Football after a season-ending injury to James Conner.
But they didn't expect exactly this makeup.
Specifically, Emari Demercado was missing.
Trey Benson was getting his expected solid workload.
But behind Benson was Michael Carter, a former Jets draft pick.

Yes, Emari Demercado is active for the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football.
The problem is he's not getting any real action.

He was expected to potentially be the passing-down back behind Benson, but the Cardinals weren't operating in that way for most of the game. Demercado did get some work as a pass-blocking back.
Arizona even used receiver Greg Dortch in the backfield some.
It was a tough break for Demercado, who seemed like he'd have a chance to make a difference.
